Itinerary
Darwin Crocodile Tour – Adelaide River
Embark on a renowned Darwin tourist experience, the half-day Jumping Croc Cruise along the Adelaide River. This unique chance lets you see some of the world’s most lethal and belligerent predators in their indigenous environment.
Departing from Darwin city, we head southeast, around 60km, to the Marrakai wetlands. This region is celebrated for its varied wildlife, encompassing more than 280 bird species and 117 reptile species, including the formidable saltwater crocodile.
In the Top End of Australia, particularly in the Darwin, Mary River, and Adelaide River areas, there are over 100,000 saltwater crocodiles. You will likely observe many crocodiles throughout the day in the Northern Territory’s natural waterways.
The saltwater crocodile is recognized as the largest reptile globally. It’s also among the most ancient life forms, with origins dating back to the dinosaur era. These animals can reach lengths of up to 6 meters and weigh around 1000kg. Near the Adelaide River, a notorious local crocodile named ‘Sweetheart’ was known for biting off boat motors from fishermen and raiding cattle from farms. Tragically, Sweetheart passed away in 1979 but remains preserved in the Darwin Museum.
Our professionals possess Wildlife Permits from the National Parks and Wildlife, ensuring the well-being of the animals during our interactions.
