Litchfield National Park is a renowned tourist destination about an hour’s drive from Darwin City. Visitors can explore stunning natural landscapes, lush rainforests, beautiful waterfalls, and pristine plunge pools.

During the journey, there will be a stop at the Adelaide River, where visitors have the opportunity to participate in the renowned Jumping Crocodile Cruise (optional additional cost) or visit the Fogg Dam Conservation Centre on the traditional lands of the Limilngan-Wulna people, who effectively oversee and preserve the reserve. This centre is an extraordinary location to explore the diverse wildlife of the Top End, housing various species of native birds, turtles, water pythons, and saltwater crocodiles.

We see ancient Magnetic Termite Mounds, some of the biggest in the Top End. Additionally, there is an opportunity to relax and swim in Litchfield’s stunning natural plunge pools, spas, and whirlpools at Buley Rockholes or Wangi Falls.

Afterwards, we visit Florence Falls or Tolmer Falls, known for their stunning waterfalls and breathtaking views carved into the steep rocky escarpment.

After a day of relaxation and adventure in the tropical water wonderland, we returned to Darwin feeling rejuvenated.

This reserve, managed by the Limilngan-Wulna People, is a great place to observe the wetlands and learn about the significance of the Adelaide River floodplains to various species. Visitors can join their guide for a scenic walk through the pristine habitat. There are opportunities to spot rare birds, water pythons, and freshwater turtles. Crocodiles can be seen in this wetland system.

The Tabletop Range’s sandstone plateau forms tropical waterfalls that are worth visiting. Visitors can either walk down 160 steps to reach the clear swimming hole at Florence Falls or enjoy the view of Tolmer Falls from the lookout above.

The monsoon rainforest creates a unique tropical environment that can be enjoyed through a scenic walk and offers stunning views of the lush natural surroundings.

The Buley Rockholes are in picturesque natural surroundings and offer various levels of swimming and relaxation. The waters here are known for their cleanliness, and you may even be able to enjoy a massage from the faster-flowing cascades.

In addition, visitors have the opportunity to explore the well-known plunge pool located at the base of the impressive Wangi Falls. Before your journey, we recommend checking the average temperatures for the time of year you’re travelling and packing suitable clothing. In the case of rain or harsh weather, expect your tour to go ahead unless otherwise advised by the provider.
