Why Visit Lake Mountain
Lake Mountain has no lake
Lake Mountain, misnamed for Surveyor-General George Lake, surprisingly lacks an actual lake. Instead, it presents a picturesque mountain. This resort, situated 120 kilometres northeast of Melbourne, offers direct access, eliminating the need for intermediary buses or lift passes.
Encircled by extensive cross-country skiing paths and toboggan areas, the resort boasts state-of-the-art amenities. Guests can relish their stay in delightful chalets with mountain views. The resort’s facilities encompass a dining establishment, a day-use shelter, a coffee shop, ski gear, a retail outlet, a centre for snow sports, and a skiing academy, among others.
Three hours of playing in the snow
People of every age group are welcome to indulge in three hours of complimentary leisure time, engaging in activities such as tobogganing, cross-country skiing, snowshoe trekking, or playful snowball throwing.
Alternatively, visitors might opt to trek to Lake Mountain’s peak to behold breathtaking vistas of the snowy landscape.
Enjoy a nature walk at Steavenson Falls
During the afternoon, embark on a 700-meter journey to Steavenson Falls, one of Victoria’s tallest and most majestic waterfalls.
Named in honour of John Steavenson, a 19th-century Assistant Commissioner of Roads and Bridges who first explored the area in 1862, this waterfall in Marysville plunges 84 meters down into the Steavenson River Valley. This stunning waterfall is the centrepiece of the 190-hectare Steavenson Falls Scenic Reserve.
Since the 1860s, Steavenson Falls has attracted visitors to Marysville, renowned for its distinct allure and splendid natural splendour. With five cascades and a total drop of 122 meters, the falls leave an indelible impression on its visitors.
Exploring the Yarra Valley Chocolatiers and Ice Creamery
On the way back to Melbourne, our route takes us through the Yarra Valley, where we’ll stop at a premium chocolate factory.
The Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery invite guests to discover their artisan chocolates and confections. They offer complimentary tastings and a boutique shopping experience to purchase delightful souvenirs.
While in the Yarra Valley, Australia’s esteemed wine region, visitors can relish the picturesque scenery of vineyards, rolling hills, and mountain vistas, all while wandering through the expansive lawns.
